Labour Party Crisis - NLC, Nwanyanwu May Face Contempt of Court Charge

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the former National Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu face the risk of being charged for contempt of court for dabbling in the issue of the party ownership tussle pending in court.
"What Chief Dan Nwanwanwu handed over to you as the certificate of registration of Labour Party is stolen property because, Nwanyanwu is no longer a member of LP," the party's legal counsel, Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru said.
According to a statement issued by at the weekend, LP said the action of Nwanyanwu and NLC is tantamount to undermining the authority of the court.
"Take notice, we are cataloging all the acts and actions of Comrade Salisu Mohammed aimed at disrespecting and undermining the authority of the court and at the appropriate time, we shall bring the full weight of the law on him and his cohorts," he said.
In the statement made available to THISDAY Sunday, LP's lawyer said there is a pending case in court over the matter fixed for September 30. that it will report to the court that Comrade Ayuba Wabba is in the custody of the certificate of registration of Labour Party.
Speaking to Journalists Sunday on the matter, the National Chairman of LP, Alhaji Abdulasami Salam dismissed the report about the take-over of the party by NLC, saying what the congress received from Nwanyanwu was a stolen certificate of his party.
