My visit to Washington DC “ll boost bilateral relations between Nigeria and US – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday in Abuja said Nigeria stands to benefit from his forthcoming meeting with President Barack Obama, hoping it would strengthen the bilateral ties between Nigeria and the USA.
Buhari’ who spoke during his meeting with the United States Deputy Secretary of State, Mr. Anthony J. Blinken, also expressed optimism that talks with Obama would add a boost to the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
President Buhari also stated that Nigeria and other Gulf of Guinea nations will also welcome more cooperation from the United States to enhance maritime security in the Gulf and curb crude oil theft.
Speaking on President Obama behalf, Blinken commiserated with President Buhari and all Nigerians over the recent loss of lives in terrorist attacks.
He further expressed hope that Buhari’s administration work to deepen the relationship between both countries while assuring that government of the United States would be ready to listen to president Buhari during his talks with president Obama.
