I won’t use APC FG to unleash impunity on my people —Okorocha

Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has said that the Imo state government will not use the All Progressives Congress, APC, Federal Government with President Mohammadu Buhari in charge to unleash impunity on the people of the state.

The governor, who spoke when the traditional rulers and political leaders from Mbaise, where the governorship candidate of the PDP, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha comes from, paid him solidarity visit at the Government House, also said that the election petition tribunal sitting in Owerri, handling his case with the PDP candidate, should also be allowed and encouraged to do their work to the best of their ability.

He dismissed  claims in some quarters that he asked the traditional rulers from Mbaise to tell their son, Hon. Ihedioha to withdraw his petition, saying such never happened.

He told the monarchs that his government has set up a committee to look into the case of the 40 traditional rulers, who dragged him to court and swore fake affidavit over an action he never took.

He therefore, asked the traditional rulers involved not to allow themselves again to be deceived by the old style of the PDP where they used the PDP government at the centre to do some annoying things in the state.

He added that such ugly development had come and gone since it is the APC that is in power at the federal level at the moment.

His words: “Traditional rulers still operating on the wrong impression created by the PDP in the state would have themselves to blame. The Ezes, who have continued to fight the government will have themselves to blame.

“Those, who believed that they had relationship with the president of the PDP extraction, are no more in power today.

“But I cannot do what they did because I want to show leadership. I am proud of traditional rulers from Mbaise.

He assured the traditional rulers that the University of Agriculture in their area will become realistic, and that Mbaise people have benefited much from the free education policy of his government and other projects judging from their large population.

He said that in his first tenure, the Mbaise clan alone had three key commissioners, including that of finance, and had the chairman of APC in the state.

The governor accepted to attend the 2015 Iriji Mbaise (New Yam Festival) because, according to him, his love for “Mbaise people is unconditional,” adding that Mbaise people have made tremendous contributions to the development and leadership of the state.

He assured that he would continue to respect and regard the traditional rulers in the state.

The traditional rulers had said earlier through the leader of the delegation, and deputy chairman of the state Council of Ndi-Eze, HRM Eze Chidume Okoro that they were solidly behind the governor and his Rescue Mission Government in the state and that the governor should not allow the action of few politicians from the area to make him feel that he is not loved by Mbaise people
